For our client, a major actor in the European food industry, Heads & Hunters is seeking an HR Officer. In this role, you will report to the HR Manager – Belgium & Netherlands, providing essential day-to-day support to the Belgium Business. The focus will be on transactional and administrative tasks within HR operations, serving as the first-line point of contact for employees, supporting the local management team, and managing aspects of facility, office management, and project management.

Main responsibilities:

  • Employee Support:
      • Serve as the initial point of contact for employees handling day-to-day administrative/legal inquiries.
      • Resolve issues personally whenever possible and elevate complex matters to the HR Manager or external payroll partner.
  • HR Process Optimization:
      • Assist the HR Manager in optimizing HR processes, standards, and policies between the local office and Central.
      • Ensure a seamless relationship by streamlining communication channels.
  • Policy Development and Implementation:
      • Develop and implement comprehensive HR policies and procedures.
      • Covering areas such as payroll, local time and attendance, recruitment and selection, retention, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and relevant employment practices.
  • Recruitment and Selection:
    • Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes for internships, VIE, in collaboration with temp external agencies
  • Advisory Role:
      • Provide guidance to line management on contracts, employment conditions, salary packages, benefits, and payroll matters.
      • Support decision-making processes with expert advice.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding:
      • Lead the onboarding process for new employees to ensure a superior onboarding experience.
      • Oversee the offboarding process, offering advice on optimal solutions for both the employee and the business.
  • Record Maintenance:
      • Ensure personnel files are kept up to date with all relevant documentation.
      • Maintain accurate and current attendance records, including holidays, sick leave, and overtime.
  • Payroll Handling:
      • Manage the monthly payroll process by providing timely data to external payroll partners.
      • Ensure accurate and efficient handling of payroll-related tasks.
  • Employee Benefits:
      • Act as the initial point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
      • Interact with external suppliers to manage employee benefit insurances effectively.
  • Health Policy Management:
      • Oversee the Health Policy within the organization.
      • Provide sick leave counseling and ensure compliance with government legislation.
  • Awards Scheme Management:
      • Own and manage the People Awards Scheme to recognize employee achievements.
      • Employee Engagement:
      • Drive increased employee engagement through the implementation of Our Sustainable plan.
      • Organize team-building sessions and events to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Reporting:
    • Generate various reports on headcount, sickness, work levels, PDP, benefits, bonus, etc., as requested by the HR manager.
    • Run reports for internal circulation and fulfill international requests, including financial reports for the indirect costs budget.


  • 1-2 years of experience in managing first-line HR tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • Proficient in IT skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Knowledge of local HR legislation.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills and you have an eye for details
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • High levels of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • You are a great team player capable of energizing others and contributing to their development.
